Mark Reedstrom is a licensed attorney in South Dakota. He received his license from
the South Dakota Bar in 1985. He is also certified to practice in the
federal court.
Education
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree
(magna cum Laude) from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1982 and
a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of South Dakota in 1985.
During law school he was a contributing member of the South Dakota Law
Review.
Current Practice & Clients
In 1997,
Mark was elected to the office of Grant County States Attorney and joined
Craig Ash in private practice. In 2000, Mark was re-elected to a
second term as Grant County State's Attorney, beginning in 2001 through
2004. As state's attorney for Grant County, Mark has been extensively
involved in community based crime prevention, domestic violence, and
children's advocacy programs.
In his private practice, Mark focuses in
the areas of general civil litigation and insurance disputes.
Other Employment
Following law school, Mark worked as a
law clerk for the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Sioux Falls, South
Dakota from 1985 to 1986. Mark then became a prosecuting attorney for
the Minnehaha County State's Attorneys Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
from 1986-1996. As a full time prosecutor, Mark litigates thousands
of criminal cases for the State of South Dakota and gained extensive trial
experience before the trial court. During his tenure in Minnehaha
County, Mark became a senior felony prosecutor and handled the many high
profile criminal jury trials, which drew statewide media attention.
Speaking Engagements & Other
While working for the Minnehaha County
State's Attorneys Office in Sioux Falls, and in addition to his regular
duties, Mark joined the faculty at National College and taught Federal
Civil Procedure for several semesters at their Sioux Falls campus.
Mark is Co-Founder and board member of
the Grant County Domestic Abuse Shelter; Grant County Child Protection
Team; and Grant County Out-of-School-Time (OST) Program.
